A 17 days tour around the the most important spots of Tibetan, Naxi and Yisu cultures. Discover the old secrets of Shangri La and the great Somsantling Monastery. Drive from Sangrila to Chamtreng and then to Yading where you will be able to visit many old monasteries, unique Tibetan architectures. In Yading visit the Yading Nature Preserve a very important scenic spot of the Risum Gonpo the “Three Brother Protectors”. Gaze at the Mt. Kawa Karpo and spend a full day cultural tour at Lithang. Drive along the Yalong river valley to Xinlong, Ganzi and Derge, where you will visit the famous Derge Printing house, inside which are piles of collection of wood carved boards for printing. Explore one more buddhist temple at Ganzi and learn about the local’s daily life at Daofu.

Day 01: 

Arrival Kunming 

Day 02: 

Fly to to Shangrila 3280 m. Visit Songzanlin Monastery in the Morning and Afternoon old town.

Day 03:

 Shangrila to Jol (Deqin).Visit Dongdrup Ling Monastery, Passing Baima Nature Reserve, with great view to Mt. Baima Ri and Kawa Karpo. Stay overnight in Deqin. 

Day 04:

Day tour Mingong Glacier and drive back to Shangrila in the afternoon.

Day 05: Drive Shangri-la-Chamtreng 

We begin our overland journey in earnest departing in a NE direction heading for our first stop at the town of Chatreng, which will take 6-7 hours. As we enter Gyetsa and Towang districts, the terrain gets greener before we begin crossing the two passes of Xiao Xue Shang and Daxue Shan. After crossing the latter, we enter more fertile valleys and the architecture also begins changing to the fortress-like compact adobes of Chatreng. Visit the Sampheling Monastery, completely raised during the Cultural Revolution but now restored in grand fashion. Although the monastery was originally Kagyu, the Mongolian army razed it in the 17th century during the 5th Dalai Lama's most aggressive Gelukpa expansion in frontier areas.

Day06: Chatreng-Daocheng - Yading 
Drive around 6.5 hours thru changing terrain. As we get higher and near Sumdo the terrain gets rocky and dryer. We are now in nomad country. At Sumdo we visit one of the oldest Karmapa monasteries in Kham and then continue East towards Daocheng. We will drive to Riwa and stay overnight there. Shengting Yading Hotel

Day07: In Yading 
Morning drive to Yading Nature Preserve (37 km), then we can hike for 2 to 3 hrs to Lobsang Nutown Pasture, with a very nice view of the Risum Gonpo the Three Brother Protectors - namely Chambeyang, Chenrezig, and Chanag Dorje. These are the three peaks called the Gagkarling range which botanist/explorer Joseph Rock called the "Sacred Moutain of the Outlaws." In the turn of the 20th century - this area became a robber stronghold. We visit the Chongu Monastery also called the Bandit Monastery by Rock. Afternoon drive back to Riwa. Shengting Yading Hotel

Day08 : Drive from Riwa- Daocheng-Lithang 
Drive to Lithang over 2 high passes with great views of the glaciated rocky mountains known as Great Stone Garden. If the weather is clear we could have views of Mt. Kawa Karpo and Genyen mountain during this beautiful drive. Stop at the holy Drakar Ney, the sacred site of the Buddha of compassion, which is the main site of worship after the famous summer Lithang races and during the Tibetan New Year. We then enter the grasslands of Lithang. Potala Hotel

Day 09: Lithang - Full day cultural tour 
Today we spent paying our respects to Lithang Monastery towering and overlooking the town below which shows us how much Buddhism held sway in this frontier town. Bombed in the 1950's, the monastery has been completely rebuilt. We will also visit the 7th Dalai Lama's birthplace and local market and time permitting visit the hot spring. Day 10: Lithang to Xinlong-Ganzi 
Drive along the Yalong river valley, enjoy its nature beauty. Then We will get in Ganzi county passing by Xinlong, overnight in hotel. Khampa Hotel

Day 11: Ganzi to Derge
Drive to Derge which is well known for its Buddhism printing house and its historical role in keeping the Buddhism going. On halfway, passing by Manigange where three roads meet (road to the north is to Yushu, road to west is to Derge and Chamdo, the third is to Ganzi) and climbing over the Chola pass (5050m). Visit Xinluhai (also named as Tsolha lake, elevation: 4040 meters).Derge Que'er Shan Hotel

Day12 Derge cultural tour 
Visit the famous Derge Printing house, inside which are piles of collection of wood carved boards for printing. Many of the collections are rare in the world. And then visit the Gengqing monastery, which is close to printing house and this monastery belongs to Sakyapa order. Derge Que'er Shan Hotel 

Day 13 Derge to Ganzi 
This morning we will drive back to Ganzi, and we will visit the Ganzi Monastery. Overnight at Ganzi. Khampa Hotel

Day 14: Ganzi to Daofu(Dawu in Tibetan) 
We will drive from Ganzi to Daofu, via Luhuo, on the way you can see the local people's Daily life, we will also visit the nunnery in Daofu and take a walk around when we get in Daofu county. Hotel in Daofu

Day 15: Daofu to Tagong
After breakfast in Daofu, we will start driving to Tagong, where is our next destination.

Day 16 : Tagong to Kangding
